Eurasian Tit

Pencil sketch of an Eurasian Tit songbird. Don West, Artist
7”x7”, drawn in a Moleskine sketch pad with a KawecoSport, 4B, 3.2mm clutch pencil.

For the last few days I’ve been immersed in developing a guide for quickly sketching birds. This is something I’ve been wanting to do for a while now. I also created a page on the website explaining my motive and purpose for doing so. It’s more about the overall purpose of the website, sketching and how I’ve decided to give back to society in a small way through providing free sketching guide downloads and free assistance to anyone who needs it. In a few days the guide will be available for free download as a PDF file on the website. The little fellow you see here is the subject of the guide. The reference photo is below.

What prompted these actions was an online course, “Pencil Sketching for Beginners”, I purchased for $25 from Louise Stigell (@louisestigell). The course is concise and Louise gets right to the point. She is an excellent teacher, did a fine job creating the video exercises, and has a most pleasant voice and personality made for creating instruction art videos. I recommend you take a look at the course as I think it’s well worth the modest cost. As usual, I receive nothing for passing along this information. I just do it when I find something of excellent quality that fellow artists and sketchers might find useful. Her website and course link can be found at https://louisestigell.com/courses where she currently offers up three different courses.

I will pass along the free download link as soon as I complete the guide this weekend. Stay tuned!
