Red-tailed Hawk
This was drawn from a photo reference. I really liked the pose of the hawk but I changed the limb and background to suit the composition. These types of pencil drawings take from three to four hours at this size, even though I try to keep them a bit sketchy. They’re always relaxing and fun, and split over three or more sessions, work well as a way to wind down before turning in for the night.

Oh, I just see the background is made up, and wow… impressive! It fits the bird perfectly.

This is impressive. I love the detail and shading on the tree limb and the background. It all comes together to really make this picture.
